Project Description

The majority of Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) backcountry huts use propane for cooking and lighting. This fuel source is non-renewable and can present dangerous levels of gas emissions to hut-users. To service remote cabins with propane fuel is energy intensive. Expensive helicopter trips must be routinely made to restock the propane supply.

Solution

The Alpine Club of Canada has expressed interest in creating viable alternative energy sources for its backcountry facilities in Canada. We are working an off-grid energy system for Fairy Meadows Hut in British Columbia. Our project team will be helping the ACC with an off-grid energy system at the Fairy Meadows Hut to reduce the carbon footprint the hut traditionally has.
